Stacked Squares

Am trying to put my Stacked Squares quilt together.  Still have more blocks to finish but I was getting too excited to wait any longer so today I pulled out my design wall and started putting the blocks up on it.  I am using almost all of the AdornIt fabric that I had left over from making the granddaughter's outfits from their photo shoot back in August.  I LOVE that fabric so much!  Have you checked out the AdornIt website?  From fabric to scrapbooking to clothing.....just wish I could find their fabric in my LQS!  I bought what I have while on the Utah Shop Hop this past summer.

I will probably be changing up some of the blocks but for now will keep them up until I get the other blocks finished.  The pattern is free from Moda Bake Shop.  You can find it here

Back to sewing!

Chevron Quilt

I don't think I ever showed my chevron quilt all finished and quilted!  This isn't the greatest of pics since I cropped some people out of the picture but you can see the wonderful quilting my quilter did on such a simple quilt.  I love it and have to say it is one of my favorites!

Winter Quilt

Finally got my Winter quilt back from the quilter.  The quilt pattern is by Geralyn Powers back in 2005!  I had bought the kit to make it and just never got around to it.  Yea for me finally digging it out of the kit box and putting it together.

Another Flannel

My youngest son has commented several times over the years about when I was going to make him a quilt.  I always assumed I was going to wait until he got engaged and then make him a quilt for his new bed.  I even have the pattern ready to go.  This past year I tried to use up some of the fabric stash I have and for some reason I found a bunch of flannel all tied together like it had been cut for a quilt but I didn't have a pattern to go along with it.  I really didn't want the flannel to go to waste so I decided to also use my large Twister Ruler that I haven't used before to make a lap quilt.  As I was sewing, it dawned on me that I could easily make this quilt for Joel, my son.  I was able to get it to the quilter in time for a Christmas finish.  From the look on Joel's face, I think he will like the quilt.

December Finish

Found this beautiful flannel in my LQS and wanted to make myself a lap quilt for our snowy winters here in Wyoming.  I wanted a pattern that was easy and quick since I was just using it to wrap myself up in.  I settled on Suzanne McNeill's 10 Minute Block.   You can watch her video here.  There are other videos of the same block on YouTube.

Our quilt guilt made a several quilts this past year with this block.  Basically, you take 10" squares and sew them together.  Even the center black fabric is from a 10" square.  I didn't notice how much the squares could look like a bow tie until I had everything on the design wall.

My sweet quilter quilted the quilt beautifully.  I told her to just do some edge to edge but she wasn't sure she could do it with the centers.  I love what she did!

Happy New Year everyone!  I am excited to see what 2014 brings!
