Happy Birthday to my youngest!

20 years ago today my youngest daughter was born! She asked for a Halloween quilt for Christmas but I decided to surprise her and kept it until her birthday today. It was fun to make since all the time I sewed or cut I was thinking of her and all she means in my life. Happy Birthday sweetie, I love you!

I decided that just in case she got tired of seeing Halloween all year long, even though it is her favorite holiday, I would use some "groovy" minkee on the back. I can't believe all the fun minkee fabric that is available nowadays!

Happy Birthday........love you much, mom

Christmas and Block of the Month

Here is one of my Christmas presents this year! I wasn't too sure about it when I opened the box since I didn't think I needed it but I put it up today (just like a tent--so very easy) and middle child and I have been playing with it today while we sewed. It's so much easier seeing your blocks on a wall than on the floor! I am going to love this, I think. (We'll see when I have to take it apart) These are middle child's BOM that we made through our LQS.

Here are some of the versions of the pieced BOM finished by some of the ladies that work at Valley Fabric. We were able to choose either the "peach" or the "chocolate" fabric to make our blocks. I choose chocolate and middle child chose the peach.

And here is the appliqued BOM. One of my daughter-in-law's is making this one.

In January, Valley Fabric will begin another year of BOM's. We had fun this past year going each month. Now to sew my last block and then get my quilt blocks put together.

A new version of a Christmas tree

Last year middle child's inlaws gave her a tree that shed and shed it's needles, even though it had been cut fresh and delivered soon after cutting it. (I think they gave up on watering it) This is what she and her hubby decided to use this year.....

Denver once again!

We were able to fly to Denver this weekend to attend the baby blessing of our darling granddaughter. Flights were only $25/one way so we couldn't pass up the great deal and fly! Middle daughter and her dh went with us. She found a good deal on a downtown hotel for our first night. It was a fun hotel to stay at. Certainly not your average hotel! Very art deco!
This was room. Hotel Monaco.

The ceiling in the lobby.

And the lounge area, where you could sit and relax if you didn't want to be in your room.

I forgot how to change my settings on the camera so this is the only semi-good pic that came out showing downtown Denver. We just happened to be there at the same time the city was having a light parade. It was excellent! If I am ever in Denver again at Christmastime, I would love to attend it again. Of course it really helped that we were able to look down on the parade from our hotel room so we stayed warm!

Here's the cutie who has been the star this weekend! 10 weeks old.

And you know I couldn't visit without this happening........! What is it with me and snow in Denver?! I thought it was suppose to be just a few flakes this weekend!
