Here's some more yummy quilts! Drove over to the Utah State Quilt Guild's annual festivities which were held in Midway, Utah this year. I had forgotten about it until I dropped in at our LQS and the gals said they were packing up for a booth they were having at it. I called a friend and we ran over the next day to see the booths and quilts. Of course we were half-way home when we remembered we didn't find/see the Boy Scout quilts or the local quilt guild's Row by Row quilts. :(
The quilts were amazing. Like always! Here are some of my favorites:
Teeny tiny pieces made up this wonderful quilt.
Here's a close-up of the quilting. Love the pop of the jewels!
A Lori Holt pattern. I have always loved her applique patterns. This one was fun with the choices of fabric that was used.
You can't see or read it but around each square are sayings that the quilter's mother use to say to her family. What an heirloom quilt this is!
This was such a sweet quilt, especially love how the dresden plates are placed on top of each other.
LOVE all the hexagons. The colors were beautiful in this quilt!
This quilt was awarded Best of Show. If you could see it in person, you would know why. So amazing and gorgeous! What would it be like to be able to piece, applique and quilt just a smidgen like this person? Make that HAND QUILTED! Words can't describe how beautiful it was.
Ah! This appliqued quilt really caught my eye!
Was a fun little "middle of the week----get out of town" trip!

Beautiful Fall Weekend!
Last weekend, the Honey and I stayed at our cabin. The weather was gorgeous. Lots warmer than most of the summer days we had over there!
We had a couple of visitors on Saturday morning. A cow moose was walking near the cabin and kept turning around to look back. Pretty soon this guy came up, grunting. He stopped, so we talked a bit before he got bored with me and walked into the trees.
The colors were gorgeous. Lots of red and orange already!
Middle child called us on our way home Sunday afternoon and told us to head to Evanston so we could see the fire raging near I-80. Well, wouldn't you know it, when we got there all roads were closed. We decided to take a back road home. Guess other locals decided to do the same thing since it was quite a busy dirt road.
Here are the Piedmont kilns. Lots of history around this area with the Mormon pioneers coming through this way, the California trail and the Piedmont ghost town.
When we finally hit the freeway we felt like we were in a twilight zone. No one on the interstate for miles! Here's the best pic of the fire that we could get.
At least we were able to make it home. Lots quicker than sitting with the poor folks on the interstate backed up for miles waiting for the road to reopen!

Trunk Show Part 2
More quilts from That Patchwork Place and the books, Scrap Basket Surprises and Baker's Dozen:
This one was done by our local quilt designer, Geralyn Powers. She wanted to show how the quilt could look in a different colorway. It changes the whole design sometimes.

Trunk Show
I attended a trunk show last week at the LQS. We saw quilts from That Patchwork Place. They had sent quilts from a couple of "stash" quilt books. Of course I can't remember both titles now. One was Baker's Dozen though. I think the other one was Scrap Basket Surprises. It's always fun to see the quilts in person instead of just pictures in a book. The colors are so much better in person!
Have to say I loved this one!
The gal on the left is the owner of the store. Notice the aprons hanging above? They go along with the BOM on aprons. The September block was not an apron block so I am excited to see how it will all play out by December!
Will show some more later this week!
