Some days you should just not sew!

Just walk away from the sewing machine and come back another day!

As you know, I am participating in the Jelly Roll Sampler. Nanette from Freda's Hive made this week's block. Let me say up front, she had very good directions and lots of pictures to follow. Should had been a easy, quick block to make.
This is how my block turned out on my first try. Ummmmm......not like that pattern at all. I first had trouble just cutting the fabric. I don't know where my mind was but let's just say I had to get more jelly roll strips out and recut. Then I STILL didn't cut everything correctly! After sewing the 4-patches wrong, I just decided to give up for the day and finish the block "Jana's way".

I was going to just leave it as is since this is a jelly roll sampler. Who would know that I sewed and cut the block wrong? No one but me. Yesterday I decided that the block wasn't going to get the best of me so I remade it. I even followed the directions correctly this time. Here is what the block should have looked like in the first place.

Goodies from HMQS

Of course I couldn't walk by the booths and not buy anything! I curbed my buying though by only purchasing these 2 "big" goodies. Was quite pleased with myself since I saw several other fun things I would have liked to have brought home with me.
Bought another quilt rack. This one I will take to the cabin to hang a quilt. I like these compression hangers alot. This one is a bit different from my other ones though. It used "clips" to hang the board onto the wall so I can easily take it down to switch quilts from time to time. With my other hangers, there has to be 2 people to switch a quilt and hope we don't pull the hanger off the wall while doing it! Made by Westenskow and Sons (435) 528-3155. No website.

Can you guess what this is? It's a ruler rack that will hang on the wall! I'm looking forward to getting it hung up and then having my rulers all in one place! Small mats or bigger rulers can slide through the back slots. Will try to remember to take a picture once I have it up. From RomWoodWorking.

HMQS part 6 More Gorgeous Quilts!

We were always amazed at what fabrics were used in each quilt. I know nothing of color and design but all of these quilts were done to perfection! I would love to watch in action how each designer picks their fabric especially the picture quilts.

Can you see the numbers quilted beside each bear? When I saw this quilt I wondered who it was made for. So much detail and work!
