You can never have enough.....

Our "local" Ace Hardware, which is about 40 miles away had their annual 20% off sale today. It's days like today that I am glad our Ace has a great fabric shop inside it's store! Clearance fabrics were 70% off! Under $2.50/yard!!! I told hubby that I was going to the sale this morning and he said he would go with me.

Of course the crowds were in the department I wanted to shop in but I was able to snag some great fabric for backs of my future quilts. Here's a pic of what I found at 70% off:

The rest of the store was 20% unless the item had a red dot on it. Then you picked a candy bar out of a can and you got another % off of those items. My red dot items were 40% off!

I love a great sale!

She's learning!

Middle child and I took Lil' Sis back to school Monday afternoon. When we lived in BP, I thought nothing of driving 3 hours to go shopping (maybe since that was about all we had!) but adding on 1 more hour nowadays sure makes a long car ride! I had Lil' Sis take the shuttle to Provo on Saturday and we did a bit of shopping. Even let her try on some wedding gowns. Oh my. They are expensive, aren't they?! And of course her favorite has to be the most expensive one.

After Lil' Sis' dental appointment on Monday, we headed back to school. Spent the evening swimming in the hotel pool. That made for a good night's sleep! Tuesday found us at Lil' Sis' school getting our hair cut. I wasn't worried about Lil' Sis cutting my hair but I have to admit that I was surprised that she did such a good job! Way to go Lil' Sis!!! Next time I might be brave and let her color it...and...maybe Middle Child will even go for more than a trim....:)

High School Musical 3

Lil' sis is home for the weekend so a few of her friends came over to watch HSMusical3. The movie came out while she has been at school so I ordered it from Netflix so we could watch it together while she was home. It might be a corny show but we have enjoyed watching them together so we couldn't let the weekend go by without seeing the 3rd movie. I did notice this time around though that there were alot more comments going on between all of the girls than the first movie of HSM. :) It was a fun night!

We Be Jammin'

Just finished this quilt top in time to take it to the quilter. I have always loved Quilt Soup patterns! Months ago I found this pattern at one of my favorite quilt shops and then found the kit at another quilt shop that same weekend. I'm just sure it was fate. I tweaked it a bit from the original since I have never made a scalloped border and just didn't have the time to try since I had a time crunch. Maybe next quilt. I loved appliqueing the large 15x15 blocks! Was super easy and fast! I look forward to seeing what my quilter will do to finish this fun quilt.

Hawaii-2

While in Hawaii I was of course looking for quilts. I didn't see many except the few that were in a tourist shop but did find these few quilt related items. The first picture was taken in a hotel lobby. Wish it didn't catch the glare from the glass. The other 3 were on doors of shops in the Polynesian Cultural Center. A fantastic place to visit if you ever travel to Oahu.

Hawaii

This is what the weather was like when we left the mainland. Yes. Those are snowflakes on the plane's window.

Blue ocean, white sand and green mountains made for beautiful scenery!

This was at a scenic point. Looking out at the opposite side of the island from Waikiki.

If you follow football, this is the stadium where the Pro Bowl was played this weekend.

Pineapple fields. Hard to believe those pineapples can sit on top of the plant to grow so big!

800 years ago, royalty came to this place to give birth to their children. Immediately after birth, the chiefs would take the baby away to a safe place to raise until they were grown. The mothers would not see their child again until they were adults. Nowadays, this is a place where families come to give respect for what happened here. They leave tokens on the birthing rocks because they feel this is a sacred spot.

Snowcone shop. The line was out the door and around the corner just to get a Matsumoto snowcone! Great on a warm day!

I had to go inside a grocery store to see the prices on the food. This was the most crazy price I found!

A sunset on North Shore. The surfers would surf until dark.

Chinaman's Hat on the other side of the island. So gorgeous!

A tsunami came through years ago and blew this hole into this rock in one day. When the ocean is rough the water will come through the hole. I bet that is a site to see!

Our hotel. I loved the "no door" concept!
