The UP House in Salt Lake City

Each year Salt Lake City, Utah has their annual Parade of Homes. This year the house to see was the "Up" house. It was built after the house in the movie, Up. If you remember the movie, you know that not too many rooms were shown in the movie so the builders took liberty and built the house as they thought it might look when Carl and his bride, Ella lived there.

Plans are to sell the home. There are at least 6 very interested parties that may want to buy it. The builders also have permission to keep the color on the house and do not have to change it. I hope other builders follow suit and have at least a few more homes in the neighborhood that are painted bright colors. Disney bought the floorplan plan from the builders so there will not be another house build like this one....unless Disney is involved! How fun to have your own one-of-a-kind house!

I think the pictures are pretty self-explanitory. Loved the kitchen appliances!

4 bedrooms and 4 baths with 2761 square feet for $399,900.

Quilts are back!

Picked these quilts up from the quilter a few days ago. I am very pleased with the quilting. Middle child's two quilts were done edge to edge. She let the quilter choose the pattern and they look great.

I had mine custom quilted.

This is Annaly's new quilt from grammie.

Love the tight quilting. Lots of flowers, snails and ladybugs quilted onto the quilt. Hope baby likes it!

She's here!

Annaly was born last Monday, August 1. A whole 5 pounds 8 ounces! She came so fast that her blood sugar dropped but after an iv she was fine and came home the next day with her mommy. We are so happy she is here!

This is what Annaly is laying in....my mom's doll carriage. My mom was born in 1916 so the carriage is coming up on that 100 year mark that is used to be considered a real antique. I love that we were able to get a few pictures of baby with it.

I think I caught up!

It is kind of addicting to make all of these bow-tie blocks! This is certainly going to be a wild quilt but I am enjoying the whole process of cutting and sewing them together. Still have more to make then I will figure out how to put it all together. I am actually thinking about making another one in a more subdued color scheme. Just need time to cut and organize them so that when I have a few minutes I could whip a few up. I love how the bow-ties are like a log cabin block and you have many choices to choose from as to how you want to make your quilt. Or maybe I don't like that.....it is going to be hard to decide!

Baby has still not made her appearance yet. Mommy is dialated to a 5 as of today's appointment. Doctor said that if she had been at 6, he would have sent her to the hospital. Shucks. I am hoping baby is here before our oldest son, dil and grandchild visit in a couple of days!

Not Your Grandmother's Log Cabin

Middle child's 2nd quilt she finished this past week. We took a class at the Wyoming State Quilt Guild retreat a couple of years ago and made this. Mine was done in red, black and white. I love the colors of this one! We choose a pattern from the book that was a bit of an odd shape. You use a 60 degree angle ruler on these log cabins. The book and ruler can be found here. I hope to someday make another pattern from the book. One that isn't so wonky in it's shape. We had a great time in the class!

Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt

Middle child finished her marathon sewing! Here is her Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt! I love the colors! She had most of her blocks finished from when Moose on the Porch Quilts organized the quilt-a-long but she never got the time during the school year (middle child teaches 3rd grade) to complete everything. The quilt is now at the quilter's. If you would like to make a similar quilt, the patterns are still available! It was a fun quilt to make and got rid of a couple of my jelly rolls (middle child "borrowed" one of mine) that have sitting around in drawers.

Better late than never

I am late to the party....took me reading Pleasant Home's blog more than once to finally realize that I could join this too--like everyone else! Years ago, I found a bow-tie quilt top at a garage sale and bought it. Since that time I have loved that pattern but never made a quilt with it. Well, I am now going to remedy that and join in on the fun of making a block a day till the end of summer. Not sure I can make just one block every day...will probably make several and then stop for awhile but the challenge is going to give me the jump start I need to make a bow-tie quilt! My goal is to use only scraps. If you are on facebook you can join here too! Didn't I say this summer was already busy for me?????

Big Girl Pansies

Really?! I just now noticed the title to this quilt pattern! I thought it was Bee Happy or something to do with the bees. Not Big Girl Pansies. That title does make me laugh though. When I saw the pattern, I knew I had to make it. It just looked like a fun, easy top to make. A happy quilt. I started it awhile ago but just now picked it back up again to finish it. I had to do some sewing while middle child was doing her sewing marathon.

The pattern is from Out On A Limb. I can hardly wait to get this one quilted!

What do you do when your back hurts?

Middle child came over to speed sew today. I brought a table and chair into my sewing room so we could chat better and she could also be closer to the cutting table. She has 3 quilts to finish over the weekend and then get to the quilter on Monday or lose her place in the long line of waiting to get a quilt finished. All the quilts are at different stages but I think she can do it. By 5 p.m. she was complaining about her back aching but she also thought of a great solution...she knew we had a ball here for the lil' guys to play with so she searched the house and found it. It looks funny but I think it was helping her back!

Tomorrow will be another marathon sew day for her....she kept the ball on the chair when she left tonight so she is ready to use it again in the a.m.....she'll be over after participating in her first triathalon! Oh to have her energy..........or her figure..................

It's been a busy summer!

I've had to take a break from sewing because I have been......

Trying to get my garden to grow...after a very wet and snowy May and June. I know I will get potatoes and onions...not sure about anything else...the weather has been more than crazy.

It's wedding season! My youngest son's friends all seem to be getting married this summer...6 invites...so far!

Been hanging out with my college son. It has been nice having him home for a few weeks in between semesters. He was just accepted into the Marriott Business School at BYU so he can now rest a little bit easier knowing he is now in their undergraduate program. It is very competitive!

Not able to get here near enough this summer like we usually do!

Celebrating LOTS of summer birthdays!

This will be taken to the quilters next week. I "might" get another one finished before fall begins.

Enjoyed this part of the country last week.

I actually did this...in a tent...on the ground...yes. I took 3 naps the next day from being so tired!

But it was worth it since we could do this!

Still waiting for grandbaby #4 to come into our lives! Hoping in 2 short weeks!

95% it's a girl that will be joining 2 big brothers! Grammie is shopping.......

Flew to Minneapolis and took the scenic trip home...

...had to pick up this truck for our company...

...dropped the truck off here for employees to drive it on to Elko while we relived our teenage years watching Grand Funk Railroad in concert....hubby loved it! hahaha!

"Helped" this one run her first half-marathon. Way to go middle child!!!

If I'm not with my family this summer, I can be found with our youth group at their activities. It's been a very busy summer for these Young Women already!

Last but not least, I've been spending time with this lil' man and his brother!

This summer is flying by way to quickly!
